2. What do you mean by “Vendor Neutral Certification”?
All PostgreSQLCert exams are designed and developed by experienced PostgreSQL professionals to be vendor-neutral. This means the questions are based on open-source PostgreSQL technology and standards, not specific to any single vendor’s proprietary tools or implementations. Passing a certification helps you understand PostgreSQL administration broadly and apply those skills across implementations.

3. Can I just take the certification exam directly without training?
Training is strongly recommended to build a solid foundation, but not mandatory if you already have sufficient hands-on PostgreSQL experience and feel confident in your skills before exam registration.

4. Where and how do I register for the certification exam?
All PostgreSQLCert exams are hosted by ExamIT.com. Each candidate must pay separately for the exam unless it is included in a training package. Candidates who have not attended training must register directly with ExamIT.com. Registration usually involves emailing info@postgresqlcert.com or calling the exam provider.

5. What are the certification exam requirements and steps to register?
After purchasing an exam voucher/attempt, schedule your exam by emailing info@postgresqlcert.com. Your test will be scheduled based on available dates and capacity. You will receive test login details 24 hours before the test. You must confirm your identity before starting. A laptop with audio/video and a secure internet connection is required. Results are typically provided within 48 hours.

6. How many CertFirst PostgreSQL certifications are currently offered?
There are three vendor neutral PostgreSQL certification programs currently offered:

  • Certified PostgreSQL DBA

  • Certified PostgreSQL Developer

Each consists of instructional material followed by an exam, and successful candidates receive certification.

7. How much does ExamIT charge for each certification attempt?
Exam fees depend on certification type and range roughly as:

  • Certified PostgreSQL DBA: $195

  • Certified PostgreSQL Developer: $295

Exam vouchers may be available at volume-discounted rates. Fees are quoted in USD.

8. Where can I take the exam?
Exams are currently available online through ExamIT.com or at selected Partner locations.

9. What is the exam retake policy?
If you do not pass on the first attempt, you may retake the exam at any time. If you fail the second attempt, you must wait at least 15 days before a third attempt. A 15-day waiting period also applies for subsequent retakes.

10. How long does it take to get my results?
After completing the exam via ExamIT.com, results are emailed within five business days. Certificates are processed and mailed monthly and may take up to 4–6 weeks.

11. Where do I register for the certification exam once I complete my training?
Post-training exam registration is also done through ExamIT.com, and you must pay separately for the exam. Those who have not attended a training program through PostgreSQLCert methods may not be able to register for the certification exam.

12. Where can I buy online practice exams?
Official practice tests for CPSDBA, CPSDBD, and Amazon RDS are exclusively available through ExamIT.com. These allow candidates to evaluate their current skill levels.

13. How long are practice tests valid?
Practice tests are valid for up to six months and can be taken as many times as you like within that period.

14. Do I need authorized training to prepare for certification?
While not strictly required, certified training from PostgreSQLCert or an authorized partner is highly recommended for effective preparation. Real-world experience combined with hands-on practice greatly improves success and practical expertise.

15. How can I prove that I am a CPSDBA before I receive my certificate?
You can email info@postgresqlcert.com.com with your full name, date of exam completion, training methodology/location, and ExamIT username to obtain verification before the official certificate arrives.
